April 8th and 9th Guns N Roses Not In This Lifetime reunion tour hit the brand new T-Mobile arena for it’s opening week. The T-Mobile arena is considered upon its opening to be the most state of the art arenas in the world. I went to the first nights show in Las Vegas and was impressed with the clarity of the digital screens both inside and outside of the arena. The design reminded a bit of Staples Center but without all of the glass that messes up acoustics and the sound. The sound was great. Seats were ok. I thought they could be cushier especially after sitting for most of The three hour set Guns N Roses put on. The first nights set list was as follows 1)Its So Easy 2) Mr Brownstone 3) Chinese Democracy 4) Welcome To The Jungle 5) Double Talking Jive 6) Estranged 7) Live and Let Die 8) Rocket Queen 9) You Could Be Mine 10) New Rose 11) This I Live 12) Coma 13) Speak Softly Love 14) Sweet Child O Mine 15) Better 16) Civil War 17) (Jam) Wish You Were Here 18) Layla (jam) 19) November Rain 20) Knockin On Heavens Door 21) NightTrain encore 22) Patience 23) Paradise City. Axl had tweeted out earlier that day a picture of an X ray showing he had broken his foot at the Troubadour show a week earlier and that he could still perform with limited mobility. Axl was helped on and off the stage wearing a big cast on his leg. Axl did his customary first costume changes but with help to get on and off the stage. Axl had to sit in a huge throne that had lights all around it. The center was circular and was all black. A few songs into the set Axl thanked Dave Grohl from the Foo Fighters for allowing him to borrow his thrown while he was unable to dance onstage. Photos have appeared online of Dave Grohl rocking out in the audience. Towards the end of the set the black fabric over the center of the throne was removed to show the Foo Fighters logo. During the band introduction Slash received the biggest reaction. People and media from all over CE to Las Vegas for the show and so did the rains. In line on the rain for merchandise I even had met a former LA Weekly writer who now writes for Playboy magazine. I really was impressed with the bands performance and thought Axl Rose still has for his chops. My attempts to get in the second night were unsuccessful although tickets were released before the show at the window they went quick. The second night of the show the rain was really pouring down in Las Vegas and was the biggest Rainfall they had seen in 75 years. Sebastian Bach joined Axl Rose on stage and sang Michelle from Guns N Roses Appetite For Destruction Album. The following weekend Guns N Roses hit up Indio California for the first weekend of Coachella music festival with another performance set for the weekend of April 22-24. Before the bands scheduled performance the rumors about Axl Rose replacing Brian Johnson for the rest of Ac/DC’s remaining tour dates were confirmed. Angus Young even joined the band onstage and performed a song. Reviews so far for Guns N Rose from fans like myself and others who I have spoken to have been overwhelmingly positive. Most of the criticism comes from people with completely different musical taste and who have only seen poor cell phone videos with terrible sound or who are angry Brian Johnson cannot compete the tour because it could cause permanent damage to his hearing and possible deafness. Statements released today confirm what has already been said. Brian Johnson has not been thrown out of Ac/DC and Axl Rose has not Joined AC/DC Axl only offered to and is helping out the band finish the tour dates they are contracted to.
