Ex Megadeth drummer Nick Menza died Saturday night after collapsing onstage at a Studio City gig

Ex Megadeth drummer Nick Menza died after collapsing onstage last night while performing with Chris Poland’s OHM at The Baked Potato in Studio City. Menza had joined Poland’s OHM last year after the previous drummer passed away. Menza collapsed onstage during the band’s third song. Multiple social media accounts reported that paramedics worked on Menza for 45 minutes on the scene. upon arrival at the hospital Menza was pronounced dead. Menza was a session musician who joined Megadeth in 1998 and performed on four albums and left the band in 1998. in 2004 Menza had briefly rejoined Megadeth. Appearing on Megadeth’s albums Rust In Peace (1990) Countdown To Extinction (1992) Youthanasia (1994) and Cryptic Writings (1997) has cemented himself in music history as one of the greatest metal drummers of all time. The cause of death appears to be a massive heart attack. News spread quickly on social media posted by patrons of the venue, friends and Dave Mustaine confirming the death on his twitter account expressing his shock and disbelief.
