Transgendered individuals now allowed to openly serve in the military

This Thursday morning The Pentagan announced that it will end the ban on Transgender individuals openly serving in the military. With this new policy transgender individuals who are already serving in the military can begin to receive medical care under their gender of choice and receive medical assistance in transitioning beginning October 1st. after one year individuals who are stable and have transitioned for 18 months or more can begin to enlist in the military. It has been five years since Dont Ask, Dont Tell a policy that did not allow openly gay members of the military to serve was repealed.
