Into the Hollywood Teenage abyss (a noir series)

Uma sat outside the Greyhound station on Cahuenga smoking a cigarette, watching the hopefuls arrive to get their dreams shattered. At 17 Uma had seen so much blood and gore she felt like a 60 year old. As Uma’s mind wondered off she was interrupted by a girl who could not have been older than 15 who just got off one of the bus asking her for a cigarette. Sure Uma said as she introduced herself. The girl replied by saying her name was TrashLeigh and she just ran away from being drugged and abused in group homes. Uma shared he similar tale of group home abuse and the attempts to adopt her to sex traffickers. Uma took Trashleigh with her to PlaBoy liquor than up to the old gated up Cinerama Dome property the street kids all squatted around. The two heads of The Hollywood Pit Bulls were there and Uma introduced them, Bull Dog was first in command and started the street gang that ran the squatters. Second in command was Phantom, he knew a thing or two about gangs, his father had started one of the most notorious biker gangs there ever were. The other squatters Uma was not to familiar with. It was hard to keep track of all the people coming in and out of Hollywood on any given day. They passed the vodka around and smoked joints. As darkness fell one of the clown posse showed up. He had some major beef with Bull Dog because they were not being allowed to take over the turf. When the clown posse dude pulled out a knife Uma took Trashleigh to the Blvd and told Bull Dog to be careful. A few hours later sometime after midnight Uma and Trashleigh had spanged enough money to get some food and another bottle of Vodka and walked up to alley off of Hollywood Blvd towards La Brea the plan was to head up to the Strip to find a place to crash or a safe squat where they would not be bothered. Ahead a few feet Uma swore she saw Bull Dog laying there, but that was strange he squatted the old abandoned Pantages Theater and never went down that alley and always told Uma to stay away from it. When they got close Bull Dog was laying there with his throat slit and a needle in his arm ghost white. Uma had seen enough corpses to know he was dead. She felt his wrist and felt no pulse, skin ice cold. Uma cried over his body a minute and told TrashLeigh we have to go to West Hollywood and hide a few days and we cant call the police. Uma did not want to tell Trashleigh somehow she keeps seeing murders or stumbling on dead bodies. All Uma could think about was staying alive and getting away. It had to have been that Clown Posse guy but how did he lure Bull Dog here to this decrepit alley with the abandoned Masonic Lodge? Was there a trick about a truce? Than Uma remembered just a week earlier watching her best friend Stormer take her last breath after she found her in the alley off Santa Monica and La Brea where they had planned to meet just months after a local musicians body was found there decapitated. Stormers last words were “he did it” But who was “he” there was much about Stormer she had kept secret. Uma had to stay alive and find out who killed her best friend. With rising body counts in Hollywood and gang shoot outs in the street in broad daylight she had to figure out how not to be a casualty. Uma and TrashLeigh hitchhiked and were dropped off in front of Billboard live. Uma used her fake ID and persuasive techniques to get TrashLeigh in. It was easy to pimp a few drinks and find a sympathetic couple who lived off Doheny to let them crash a few days. The following days papers were plastered with news of The Hollywood Pit Bulls gang leaders murder. That left Phantom in command. Phantom was Uma’s first friend on the streets when she was fourteen and she worried for his safety. Phantom taught Uma every thing she knew about survival on the street and felt he was family to her. The few days gave Uma time to think and school TrashLeigh just as Phantom had done for her. TrashLeigh would not disclose her age, that was fine with Uma she had been there once. Once they headed back to Hollywood and the nightmare Uma faced she knew she had to track down Nichalai, she was the third musketeer to her and Stormer and hadn’t been seen since word of Stormers murder. Was Nichalai hiding or had she met with foul play herself?  To be continued…
